Public Garden in Zealand day 10

Round a few more rolling wheatfields dotted with cornflowers and red poppies to Birkegardens Haver which started out as a pig farm then a cow farm then the cows had to go because gardening was much more fun. Now it's a full-scale commercial operation with 5+ acres of beautiful  landscaped gardens, a cafe, several shops and great kids' activities like a petting zoo and a sandpile with ride-on bulldozers and dump trucks.

For adults there are lovely vistas through the trees and over water, peaceful rooms with a Japanese feel, a quiet garden pavilion and quirky groups of pottery animals dotted around. Lunch was served in their cafe - slabs of Danish ham with a sugar glaze that was very popular.
