A day with Nigel, a big bluff Scotsman - credentials in military intelligence and diplomacy, focused on the early days of Hitler. He rose swiftly to power and was democratically elected in 1933 and immediately repudiated the Treaty of Versailles, suspended many normal government functions, campaigned against Jews, homosexuals and intellectuals and put Germany on a war footing.
By 1935 a group of senior military officials decided he had to be killed for the sake of the country so they plotted to blow him up. Unfortunately he escaped although 4 others died and so the plotters were doomed to torture and hideous death. They are now recognised as honorable men in an official memorial.
